HIL testing during Development

Projects that meet the highest safety standards such as SIL-4 or ASIL-D require precise planning, complete documentation and a clear test and verification strategy. Unfortunately, the effort involved is often underestimated in practice - resulting in project delays, additional costs and customer frustration.


A test strategy for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) tests can reduce these risks. This is demonstrated using the example of a specific project in the field of railroad signaling technology (CENELEC/SIL4). In practice, these strategies are also transferable to ISO 26262 ASIL-D and IEC 61508 SIL4..
